Software Engineer

Candidate will take business change requests, help define the technical requirements, then design and develop the solutions that automate and streamline production workflows. To be successful, candidate will be proficient in Java, have a solid understanding of SQL and relational databases, be able to comprehend complex production workflows and their exceptions, and be able to code a robust, scalable, supportable solution. Candidate will have an understanding of life-cycle development through production implementation and post-implementation support. Candidate is also is able to prioritize and work multiple assignments independently.

Required Skills & Qualifications

    BS in Computer Science or other Engineering discipline
    Proficient in database connectivity from Java, SQL, and Java coding
    At least 2 years of experience as a software engineer
    Familiarity with using a change control system
    Ability to work in all phases of the software development life-cycle
    Demonstrated excellent problem analysis and problem-solving skills
    Effectively communicate in writing and verbally to small groups
    Experience with serial I/O from Java, or an ability/desire to learn it

Desirable Skills & Qualifications

    EDI background, preferably in laboratory or other medical industry
    Experience with automated testing tools, such as JUnit and Ant
    Experience with JSP, HTML, Javascript, XML, and or Swing
    Familiarity with Hibernate, JPA, and/or Spring
