Job Title: Senior Oracle Production Database Administrator

Overview:

We are located in Del Mar, off of the Del Mar Heights exit from I-5, with easy access from I-805 and State Route 56. XIFIN, Inc® delivers a powerful combination of automated, web-based application technology and serves enabling laboratories to optimize revenue cycle management.

Job Description:

The Senior DBA analyzes all aspects of database management in order to fulfill business needs and acts as a source for guidance and training for our enterprise databases.

Our application involves very complex querying capabilities over large volumes of customer data.

Required Skills:

    • Experience with Oracle 9i Enterprise Edition, PL/SQL, architecture, DBA, database queries, OLTP, configuration, administration, disaster recovery, backup and restore
    • Oracle 10g EE strongly preferred
    • 7 or more years of Oracle database administrator experience in a datacenter environment
    • Must interface well with other teams (developers, systems, etc) and quickly grasp business drivers that the technology supports

    Projects/Proactive

    • Assist in deploying and documenting new production environment (install and configure DB instances; test failover and monitoring; subsequent support)
    • Assist in building, documenting, and testing backup and recovery procedures
    • Assist with integration of LDAP for Oracle accounts
    • Help migrate existing customers to new environment
    • Help build a process to manage and deploy patches to DB instances as necessary
    • Involvement in design, planning, and architecture in the environment
    • Help scope, plan, and implement disaster recovery
    • Help build improved fault monitoring and alerting; improved performance monitoring and reporting. Capacity planning
    • Database installations, patches, upgrades, and migration

    Projects/Proactive

    • Backup and restore data using RMAN/BCVs/Veritas NetBackup DataCenter as required
    • Database monitoring, performance analysis, and tuning
    • Interface with Systems tools such as Veritas Volume Manager, File System and Quick I/O products
    • Support of Customer Service for resolution of client problems/issues (Includes on-call duties)
    • Security compliance and auditing
    • Script creation and maintenance for automation of routine tasks

Highly Desirable:

    • Senior Oracle database expert with hands-on experience, preferably in a Solaris production environment
    • Oracle certification preferred (OCM, OCP, etc)
    • Subject-matter expert in Oracle database configuration, administration, database structures, and integrity. Excellent understanding of ACID principles
    • Experience with Oracle replication methods (such as Dataguard)
    • Experience with enterprise data replication techniques such as BCVs
    • Experience with enterprise data technologies such as EMC, HDS, Brocade, etc
    • In-depth understanding of various logical and physical partitioning considerations, memory parameters, database backup and recovery mechanisms, etc
    • Worked as the primary contact or team lead for production databases in a medium- or large-scale environment
    • Ability to grasp business processes and recommend appropriate database changes, tuning, or solutions that work with the rest of the environment

    Other Desirable Skills/Experience

    • In-depth PL/SQL query analysis and tuning. Ability to analyze extremely complex database queries and tune both transactional and reporting queries
    • Worked on a J2EE based application development project (preferably Weblogic)
    • 4 or more years of IT development experience
    • Strong expertise in PL/SQL programming and architecture, including performance and productivity tuning
