XIFIN Business Intelligence Upgrade Notice
On Sunday, June 20, XIFIN upgraded the Business Objects Reporting System to a newer version. In addition, please note the information below concerning the running of Fixed Layout Reports.
Important Information regarding the upgrade
The new version of Business Objects offers better scalability, a slightly different look-and-feel, and several new features that have been requested by many of you. We encourage you to read the new User Guide to familiarize yourself with these changes. The guide is in the *BI Reference folder, with the name XI User Guide - Standard.
Reports and files located in private user areas (Favorites folder and Inbox) were not converted to the new version. Also, although Standard and Site report templates were converted, any “History Instances” they contain were not converted.
We also need to remind everyone that the Business Objects Reporting portal is provided for the purpose of running reports and is not intended as a file storage service. We have recently completed an audit that suggests users are treating the portal with the latter in mind. As a result and necessitated by this upgrade, XIFIN will begin enforcing the following purge policy:
- Users should save any Inbox documents they wish to keep indefinitely to their local PC as soon as they are available. Any documents located in your Inbox will be purged if they are older than 2 weeks.
- Users should also save any History instances of a standard, site, or user specific Favorites report template to their local PC that they wish to keep indefinitely. Any history instances older than 2 week will also be purged. Also only 10 history instances of a given report template will be kept.
- The Favorites folder should only be used to store user specific report templates. Any reports located in the Favorites folder are considered a template, therefore embedded data will be purged. Note that History instance data will comply with the above mentioned policy.
- All reports that have the word "SCHEDULE" at the end of the report name should continue to be scheduled. In addition, Fixed Layout Reports that have a blue icon to the left of the report name must be scheduled even if the report name does not include the word "SCHEDULE."
The screen shot below illustrates reports that meet this criteria. For example, the report named Accession Activity Procedures Codes has a blue icon to the left of the report title and must be scheduled.
