BCBSM replacing McKesson ClaimCheck® with McKesson ClaimsXten(TM)

After extensive analysis, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan will replace the current McKesson ClaimCheck software with McKesson’s enhanced clinical code editing solution, ClaimsXten. The new software is scheduled to be in use during the first quarter of 2012. BCBSM has used McKesson ClaimCheck for editing clinical rules within our claim systems for several years. ClaimCheck has allowed us to better align payment policy with national rules and coding guidelines. But health care is constantly changing and requires faster, flexible business applications. ClaimsXten is a valuable tool that can help meet these challenges, deliver appropriate outcomes and move BCBSM to the next stage of readiness in health care. Additionally, the new software will: • Improve the accuracy of the BCBSM payment policy application • Provide enhanced technical functionality • Improve overall claims management • Assist with maintaining a consistent payment policy in alignment with state and national mandates
