CMS to Delete DBT/CAD NCCI Edit

The National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) contractor for CMS has notified the American College of Radiology (ACR) that effective April 1, CMS will delete the recently implemented NCCI edit for the code pair 77063/77052 affecting the procedure-to-procedure edit for screening digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) and computer-aided breast cancer detection (CAD). Radiology practices should resubmit for re-adjudication or appeal claims denied due to this edit after April 1 based on the requirements of the local A/B Medicare Administrative Contractor or state Medicaid Program. The edit reversal will be retroactive to January 1, 2015.
