New Medi-Cal Benefit for Abdominal Ultrasound Services

Effective for dates of service on or after October 1, 2016, HCPCS code C9744 (ultrasound, abdominal, with contrast) is a new Medi-Cal benefit. Code C9744 is reimbursable with an approved Treatment Authorization Request (TAR) and may be billed in conjunction with modifiers U7 (Medicaid level of care 7) and 99 (multiple modifiers). This service is reimbursable for the treatment of both male and female recipients and may be performed by a non-medical practitioner (NMP).
