25% Rate Cuts for radiology and pathology procedures

Mississippi State Medical Association (MSMA) has learned that effective May 15, 2013, BCBS  Mississippi  will reduce provider payments by up to 25% for certain procedures, specifically radiology and pathology procedures. MSMA has repeatedly attempted to contact BCBS officials to request a meeting and to obtain additional information regarding the rationale behind  the rate reductions. BCBS has not responded to any MSMA requests for information or meetings. Upon receiving no response from BCBS, MSMA requested that the State Insurance Commissioner intervene to facilitate a meeting of BCBS and MSMA representatives.
