CMS declares September is Healthcare Fraud Prevention and Awareness Month in California
September 2, 2011Fraud committed through medical identity theft now plagues many physician practices in California. CMS, in collaboration with the California Medical Association, California Department of Health Care Services, the Office of the Inspector General, the California State Attorney General, and the Senior Medicare Patrol will host a series of events on medical identify theft and other fraud related topics. Each event’s goal is to raise awareness and to educate physicians on how to safeguard and protect their professional and medical identity and their most valuable assets ñ their medical practice and their patients ñ from fraud.
