CMS releases new 2016 G codes for Presumptive and Definitive Drug Testing
November 30, 2015CMS has released the 2016 CLFS Final Determinations and will delete all current drug testing G codes (G6030-G6058), G0431, G0434 and continue to not recognize the new AMA CPT codes (80300 – 80377) for drug testing. For presumptive testing, they have created three G codes. Only one of the three presumptive G codes may be billed per day. For definitive testing, they have created four G codes. Only one of the four definitive G codes may be billed per day. For definitive testing, the unit used to determine the appropriate definitive G code to bill is “drug class.” Each drug class may only be used once per day in determining the appropriate definitive G code to bill.
