Extracranial Arteries and Non-Invasive Vascular Studies Updates

Effective retroactively for dates of service on or after April 1, 2011, CPT codes 93880 and 93882 (duplex scan of extracranial arteries) have ICD-9-CM diagnosis codes added as allowable for payment. Claims incorrectly denied retroactive to April 1, 2011, will be automatically reprocessed. Also effective for dates of service on or after April 1, 2011, the frequency limit for non-invasive diagnostic studies CPT codes 93875 ñ 93888 and 93925 ñ 93979, is reduced from three studies per year to two studies per consecutive 12-month period, same recipient, any provider.
