Important Dates for TRICARE West Region Transition Approaching

On April 1, 2013, the TRICARE West Region contract will transition to and be managed by UnitedHealthcare Military & Veterans (UnitedHealthcare). Here are some important dates that you should be aware of regarding referrals/authorizations and claims/payments.

• No authorizations approved by TriWest will be valid after May 30, 2013, except for maternity authorizations.
• Services provided after March 31, 2013 will either be paid as network on a UnitedHealthcare contract or as a non-network, certified TRICARE provider, depending on the provider’s status. Please submit claims with dates of service on or before March 31, 2013, to TriWest no later than July 29, 2013. 
• Please submit any claims issues or concerns using online claims correspondence/Webmail on the secure website at TriWest.com as quickly as you identify an issue. Claims appeals and inquiries must be submitted within 90 days of the date of the explanation of benefits in accordance with TRICARE policy, but no later than July 29, 2013. Claims correspondence/Webmail submission is available through July 12, 2013.
