Intent to Refer Letters and Payment Offsets Due to Incarcerated Beneficiary
March 1, 2014Providers may have received Intent to Refer (ITR) Letters related to Incarcerated Beneficiary Overpayments issued between 1/24/2014 and 1/31/2014. In addition, providers may have had offset collections of payments related to Incarcerated Beneficiary Overpayments occurring between 1/24/2014 and 1/31/2014. As the result of Palmetto’s manual review of Incarcerated Beneficiary overpayments and determining refund amounts, a number of ITR Letters were sent in error. Palmetto GBA will be drafting and mailing retraction letters to those providers identified as having received an ITR Letter in error. In addition, Palmetto GBA is actively researching all offset collections against Incarcerated Beneficiary Overpayments determined in error and will be refunding the collections back to providers. Once the refunds have been issued, refund notification letters will be mailed to affected providers within 10-14 business days with the necessary details for each refund issued.
