Lab coding changes for 2015

CMS has approved an extension of the Missouri Women’s Health Services Program, 1115 Family Planning Demonstration, effective January 1, 2015 through December 31, 2017. Services covered under the Missouri Women’s Health Services Program include family planning services, family planning-related services and supplies, and testing and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases that are diagnosed during a routine/periodic family planning visit. The list of covered tests has been updated for 2015. Three codes (87620, 87621 and 87622) have been deleted from the list due to HCPCS updates which became effective January 1, 2015, therefore, providers should no longer use these codes when billing. Consequently, three codes (87623, 87624 and 87625) have been added to the list to provide comparable coverage for the deleted services. These codes are payable effective January 1, 2015.
