Medically Unlikely Edits (MUE) for Outpatient Claims
June 24, 2015MUE will be applied to outpatient claims with dates of service on or after August 1, 2015. MUEs are part of the CMS National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI). The NCCI promotes national correct coding methodologies and reduces improper coding which may result in inappropriate payments of Medicaid claims. The purpose of the NCCI MUE program is to prevent improper payments when services are reported with incorrect units of service.
