New 12-Month Timely Filing Limit for Corrected Claims Effective March 8, 2016 for Apr. 2016
April 29, 2016Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) will be implementing a new 12-month time limitation for the submission of corrected claims and adjustments beginning on March 8, 2016. Starting March 8, 2016, BCBSNC will allow 12 months for the filing of corrected or adjusted claims following the date a service, supply or procedure was provided. With this change, BCBSNC will no longer accept a corrected or adjusted claim for payment review that’s aged up to 12 months following the last date of service or the discharge date that’s listed on the original claim. This new corrected claim filing timeline will apply only to corrected claims submitted for services provided to BCBSNC’s commercially insured members, which includes members enrolled in BCBSNC’s commercial, ASO (administrative services only) and underwritten policies, as well as Blue Cross and/or Blue Shield members eligible through the BlueCard® program.
