Rendering Provider Numbers Required for Group Providers

In compliance with federal regulation, all ordering and referring physicians or other professionals providing services under the State Plan, or under a waiver of the State Plan, must be enrolled as Medi-Cal providers. Anticipated to take effect in the first quarter of 2015, all services billed by physician group providers will require a valid enrolled Medi-Cal rendering provider number on the claim for pathology services, radiology services, maternity care services and out-of-state providers as previous exemptions for these services will be discontinued.
