Reversal of Proration Cuts

The Alabama Medicaid Agency announced that payment reductions implemented earlier this year due to proration of the General Fund budget will be reversed no later than November 1, 2012. The reversals were made possible following the passage of a state Constitutional Amendment on September 18 which enabled Medicaid’s 2013 Fiscal Year Budget to receive additional monies through the state’s General Fund. Effective for dates of service October 1, 2012 and thereafter, the change will reverse the 10 percent payment reduction for physicians, Physician Lab and X-ray providers, Independent Lab and X-ray providers.
