The 30-Day Comment Period is Now Open for the HHS Proposed Rule to Delay ICD-10

April 24, 2012

Last week, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced a proposed rule that would delay the compliance date for ICD-10 from October 1, 2013 to October 1, 2014. The posting of the proposed rule to the Federal Register marks the beginning of the 30-day comment period, ending May 17, 2012. HHS believes the change in the compliance date for ICD-10 will give providers more time to prepare and fully test their systems to ensure a smooth and coordinated transition among all industry segments.
