Urine Drug Test (UDT) Coding, CR 33554

Medicare has recently end dated several UDT codes and introduced new codes. MIHMS has been partially updated to reflect these changes, which were published in Medicare’s MedLearn Matters (MLN) MM7140.

Code changes with their respective effective dates are as listed below:

• 80100 – end dated effective 12/31/2010 and will deny reimbursement
• 80101 – end dated effective 12/31/2009 and will deny reimbursement
• 80104 – end dated effective 12/31/2010 and will deny reimbursement
• Limit the Units of Service on the following codes to 1:
  • G0431, effective 1/1/2011 and will deny any units more than 1
  • G0434, effective 1/1/2011 and will deny any units more than 1

• Limit G0431 to no QW modifier, effective 1/1/2011 and will deny reimbursement
