Call to Action: Fight Proposed Pathology Cuts

The College of American Pathologists issued an action alert today regarding CMS-proposed cuts to the technical component and global payments. Like CAP, we urge you all to provide feedback to CMS during the 60-day comment period that ends September 6, and to meet with your members of congress.

Labs continue to be bombarded by challenges to the viability of their businesses, resulting in potential loss to patient access and physician choices. Having just completed responses to the gapfill process on the CLFS side, we now need to join forces to challenge dramatic proposed cuts to the Physician Fee Schedule, ongoing bundling efforts, and a proposal to reassess an already threatened clinical lab fee schedule. Your comments are, once again, greatly needed!

CAP has issued a code-by-code analysis of proposed cuts; over half the codes listed are under consideration for cuts averaging nearly 30%, and some are as high as 80%. In addition, the organization has provided some excellent resources to help you be heard and to stay on top of what’s going on.
