Health Plan Identifier (HPID) Questions to be Addressed at WEDI ICD-10/HPID Implementation Excellence Forum

As questions continue to arise regarding Health Plan Identifier (HPID) implementation in standard transactions, WEDI has responded by hosting its ICD-10/HPID Implementation Excellence Forum on July 22^nd -25^th to illustrate to health plans/payors the current pain points and how HPID could be used to resolve them. In a 2 hour segment, I, along with Cathy Mesnik, St. Joseph Health System, and Debbi Meisner, Emdeon, will be speaking on the impact HPID has on the business process flows from different types of providers to the clearinghouses. We’ll also be discussing how things can get very much worse if, as an industry, we don’t get this right and why it’s important to do more than just swap the existing payor ID for HPID.

Furthermore, there will also be an in-person session in which CMS representatives will provide further overview as they encourage feedback on topics relating to HPID.
