Laboratories on the Front Lines: Battling COVID-19

With the US now the new epicenter of COVID-19 incidents, laboratories find themselves on the front lines. XiFin stands firm in our support of these dedicated entities whose work is crucial not only in these unprecedented times but as key service providers in healthcare overall.

Laboratory COVID-19 Resource Center

Amidst the current outbreak of respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus, XiFin is gathering payor guidance and laboratory support information in our COVID-19 Laboratory Resource Center. We are continuously updating our resource center with the latest guidelines and information.

LIS Support for COVID-19 Testing

At XiFin, we are doing everything we can to support our clients in this crisis. In support of laboratories that are spinning up their COVID-19 testing capabilities, we are adding COVID specific test setup and workflow (including instrument integration and results reporting) options to XiFin LIS, our cloud-based laboratory information system — enabling laboratories to help fast track their test implementation and validation. XiFin, alongside ACLA and other organizations, is committed to ensuring that Americans receive the testing they need. Our resource center provides the latest on efforts to ensure laboratories have the supplies, funding, and reimbursement resources needed to succeed in this shifting environment.

Call for Action: Testing Supplies Needed

XiFin is organizing a “Call for Action” to laboratories that are not performing COVID-19 testing who may have extra inventory of specimen collection swabs and transport media, and who are willing to sell them to laboratories that need them. See more details and a list of supplies needed, here.

XiFin Response to, and Readiness for, COVID-19

At XiFin, we continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely as we focus on the safety and well-being of our employees and providing the level of service and capabilities our customers have come to expect.

Security and safety are integral to our products, business processes, and infrastructure. We have a robust, global, integrated Business Continuity Program (BCP) in place that is managed by a dedicated team of experts who are working hard to keep our operations running smoothly so that we can provide you with the best possible service. As such, we have activated our Business Continuity Plan, which includes:

  • Enabling work from home capabilities
  • Deploying a global strategy to coordinate the delivery of services and support to our clients
  • Providing our teams with information and best practices to prevent the spread of any illness
  • Coordinating global and local communications with our employees, clients, and partners
  • Limiting all non-essential business travel

Having such a plan is just one part of the overall commitment XiFin makes to security, compliance, and operational excellence.

Below is information about the key areas we are focused on as we continue to deliver business-as-usual solutions to our customers and partners, while also being focused on the health and well-being of not only customers and partners, but also our employees. Our BCP, coupled with the actions described below, helps ensure that critical processes, dependencies, and operational support needs are identified and planned for in the event that external factors such as COVID-19 force other actions to be implemented. We want our customers, partners, and employees to have the confidence of knowing that we are already implementing appropriate actions intended to ensure that you feel nothing other than business-as-usual performance from XiFin.

Workforce Readiness

Having infrastructure up and running is just one component of being there for our customers. We have sufficient redundancy in capabilities to support the continued delivery of services to our customers and partners. We support and enable work from home practices across our teams and continue to focus on best practices in doing so; leverage best-of-breed collaboration systems; and maintain a high level of security.

Our BCP continues to provide guidance for all the key operating impacts when events such as COVID-19 occur.

Health and Safety

Most importantly, we understand the concerns that COVID-19 has given rise to, and we are focused on the health and safety of our clients, partners, and employees. We have placed restrictions on travel for our employees, eliminating it for internal purposes, and limiting travel to customers and partners to critical meetings only. Work from home is in place and functioning successfully, and we continue to monitor the situation for further action. Our office locations practice the highest level of hygiene and have issued health guidance and tips to our own employees, including those working from home. We continue to monitor guidance from the CDC and other government authorities and will remain nimble in enacting measures appropriate for the health and safety of our clients, partners, and employees.
