ACLA president Julie Khani published in The Hill: Patient care is put to the test as clinical laboratory services are hit with a one-two punch in rate cuts

April 23, 2018

American Clinical Laboratory Association president Julie Khani contributed an opinion piece to Washington DC political publication The Hill. In it, she argues the CMS data collection process falls short of the expectations of the clinical laboratory industry and to fix these issues with data collection and improve lab payment rates, Congress must pass additional legislation. “We need to reduce barriers to laboratory services and ensure diagnostic innovation continues unabated. To achieve these goals, we need Congress to pass legislation to fix the problems CMS created. If not, those who sought well-intentioned reforms of lab payment rates could instead find themselves delivering a knock-out blow to the promise of innovative diagnostics and long sought personalized care for patients now and in the future.”
