Aetna to buy Humana in $37B deal
July 27, 2015Aetna will spend $37 billion to buy rival Humana and become the latest health insurer bulking up on government business as the industry adjusts to the federal healthcare overhaul. The combined company will cover more than 33 million people. Only UnitedHealth Group and the Blue Cross-Blue Shield carrier Anthem cover more. A combined Aetna-Humana would be the second-largest insurer by revenue.
