Beneficiary Waiver Required When Billing for Services Not Covered by TRICARE

January 27, 2017

To help TRICARE beneficiaries manage their care and understand their benefits, TRICARE network providers must notify beneficiaries in advance when they receive a service not covered by TRICARE. TRICARE won’t reimburse for non-covered services and network providers can only bill beneficiaries for those services if the beneficiary signs a waiver of non-covered services. The signed waiver confirms that the beneficiary has agreed in advance to pay for non-covered services. Providers must keep copies of all signed beneficiary waivers.
