Bundling Criteria Changes

Blue Cross began applying National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) as well as Blue Cross specific bundling edits to claims in 2010. The current edits will bundle certain procedures when billed on the same date of service by the same provider.  Beginning September 26, 2017, edits will be modified to bundle these same procedures when billed for the same date of service by any provider under the same Tax ID with the same specialty. The new edits will be applied to all claims received on or after September 26, 2017, regardless of the date of service on the claim. No changes are being made to the criteria allowing a modifier to be used to bypass the bundling edits when appropriate.
