Clinical Data Submission Protocol Update – Effective Date for California Care Providers is Sept. 2, 2016
July 28, 2016In the June 2016 Network Bulletin, UHC announced that their Clinical Data Submission Protocol would include laboratory test results for all UnitedHealthcare members starting July 1. They have updated the effective date for care providers in California to Sept. 2. They understand it may take time to establish a data sharing connection so they will be flexible with the Protocol requirements for those actively collaborating with UHC to share data. UnitedHealthcare will be requesting clinical data from providers in order to comply with state and federal data collection and reporting requirements. As such, care providers must submit to UnitedHealthcare all clinical data — including, but not limited to, laboratory testing results — by any available means including electronic data interchange, fax, telephone and/or physical data collection methods. All clinical data must be made available to UnitedHealthcare within 30 days of the date of service or within the time specified by applicable law.
