Clinical Lab Interpretation Service Codes Edited Incorrectly by CWF for Dec. 2013

Novitas identified a Common Working File ( CWF) system error 1/22/2013 that was causing incorrect denials of procedure codes 83020, 83912, 84165, 84181, 84182, 85390, 85576, 86255 and 86256 when billed in certain unique circumstances. This includes Technical or Professional component services (e.g., 84165 and 84165-26) if the two services were performed in separate states or processed by different Medicare contractors. On 12/10/2013 Novitas issued an update that the CWF maintainer implemented a correction to their system on October 6, 2013 to resolve the issue.
