Date Specific Eligibility: Starting December 31, 2014 for Medi-Cal Presumptive Eligibility Programs

Currently, individuals approved for the Medi-Cal Presumptive Eligibility (PE) programs receive Medi-Cal coverage beginning the first day of the month of PE application, regardless of the date the application is submitted. To ensure consistency with federal law, changes to the Medicaid system and new PE clarification and guidance from CMS and the Department of Health Care Services is establishing date specific eligibility for the PE programs based on the date of eligibility. Effective December 31, 2014, the PE programs will grant Medi-Cal coverage beginning on the day that PE determination is made.
