Medi-Cal postponing the implementation of the HIPAA code conversion for local modifier ZS

The public comment forum for Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) code conversion for local modifier ZS has closed. The Department of Healthcare Services (DHCS) is postponing the implementation of the HIPAA code conversion for local modifier ZS to the first quarter of 2014 while feedback from the public comment forum is reviewed. Local modifier ZS is used to bill for the full professional (26) and technical (TC) components of a procedure.
