New HCPCS Modifiers to Define Subsets of Modifier 59 for Jan. 2015

As of January 1, 2015, CMS is establishing four new HCPCS modifiers; -X{EPSU} to define subsets of the 59 modifier, Distinct Procedural Service. Modifier 59 should not be used when a more descriptive modifier is available. The -X {EPSU} modifiers are more descriptive versions of the 59 modifier, so it would be incorrect to include both modifiers on the same line. The -X {EPSU} modifiers require manual review and modifier 59 continues to require manual review.
