PWK Process is Not Available in Jurisdiction 6
November 16, 2016NGS has been receiving several Paperwork PWK segment submissions of documentation in J6. However, the PWK process has not been put in place in J6 for submission of documentation. J6 still follows the established process that if documentation is required for a claim submission the department needing that information will contact the provider for that information. In most cases this will be a letter asking for that information. When PWK was first put in place for JK, the form on the NGSMedicare.com website did mistakenly contain J6 return information. That form was taken down as it was incorrect. However, there are apparently providers that have saved that form and continue to use it and attempt to submit documentation via the PWK process. That form is no longer valid and was replaced so please make sure you are not using it. Since PWK is not in place for J6 any records that are submitted using the invalid form will not be accepted by NGS. The information will not be part of any claim submission and/or determination. NGS will destroy those records as contain PHI/PII. This will apply to any records that would be submitted via mail, email or fax.
