Redesign of the Medicare Coverage Database
February 1, 2011CMS has launched the redesigned Medicare Coverage Database. While basic functionality remains the same, the site has been restyled from the ground up. The Medicare Coverage Database (MCD) contains all National Coverage Determinations (NCDs) and Local Coverage Determinations (LCDs), local articles, and proposed NCD decisions. The database also includes several other types of National Coverage policy related documents, including National Coverage Analyses (NCAs), Coding Analyses for Labs (CALs), Medicare Evidence Development & Coverage Advisory Committee (MEDCAC) proceedings, and Medicare coverage guidance documents. Users can expect to see the following changes: • Pages with new streamlined design elements including a coordinated color scheme and more defined banners, buttons, text boxes, and tables. • More utilization of expand and collapse functionality for a cleaner presentation of data. • More consistent application of design elements across pages. • Enhanced Basket functionality. • Enhanced on-line help. Please note that the new url for the MCD Public website is: https://www.cms.gov/medicare-coverage-database/.
