Reimbursement error impacts certain professional Medicare claims
May 20, 2013A reimbursement error caused coinsurance amounts to be reduced by 2 percent on a number of professional claims for beneficiaries enrolled in Anthem Medicare Supplemental plans (alpha prefix YTM). The reimbursement error resulted in a shortage in payment for certain Medicare Supplemental claims with dates of service on or after April 1, 2013. To address the reimbursement issue, Anthem is re-processing claims and making adjustments as appropriate to Medicare Supplemental claims that paid incorrectly to help ensure you receive proper reimbursements. We anticipate that the adjustment process will be completed within 45 to 60 days for all Medicare Supplemental claims impacted. In addition, they are working to ensure that inaccurate claims information shown on your remittance vouchers will be corrected on a future voucher as appropriate.
