SCN1A Gene Sequence Reimbursable as a Level 8 Molecular Pathology Procedure

Effective for dates of service on or after September 16, 2016, SCN1A full gene sequence is reimbursable under CPT code 81407 (molecular pathology procedure, Level 8). A Treatment Authorization Request (TAR) that documents one of the following is required: the patient has clinical features suspicious for Dravet syndrome or the patient requires the service as a confirmatory test for Dravet syndrome.
