UnitedHealthcare Laboratory Benefit Management Program delayed until 1/1/2015

The UnitedHealthcare Laboratory Benefit Management Program started Oct. 1, 2014. This new program is designed to help improve quality of care and support appropriate utilization for outpatient laboratory services. The pilot launch is for laboratory services ordered by a Florida network provider for fully insured UnitedHealthcare Commercial members in Florida, excluding Neighborhood Health Partnership. To give providers additional time to acclimate to the program, claim impacts related to the Laboratory Benefit Management Program will not go into effect until Jan. 1, 2015. UnitedHealthcare will closely monitor progress of this pilot program and make refinements based on data, experience and input.
